Twitter is acquired by billionaire Elon Musk. According to reports he has paid a whopping 44billion dollars to acquire the company.
Elon Musk has been tweeting about his plans of taking over Twitter. He was the first CEO of SpaceX, he acquired Tesla. And now he’s taking over at Twitter, making good on his words, (or rather tweets!).
Surely, they are going to make some big changes to their product offerings, the platform is going to become really popular.
- New Features may be added – Enter the Edit button. Right after he became the largest shareholder, he put out a poll tweet asking “who wants an edit button?”. So we can expect that in the near future.
- Content Moderation overhaul. Musk calls himself, “free speech absolutist”. He is not happy with the current policy, and he is open about his disappointment.
- Transparent algorithm – Musk has asked his followers whether the Twitter algorithm should be open source or not. So they might publicize it. Let’s see what happens when they do, if they do.
- Solving the most annoying problem, the Spam bots.
Bonus – The change so far.
He has already brought back the option for Twitter users to view tweets according to timeline – the most recent being pushed to the top. Instead of some algorithm dictating what I should see first. This is a good change in my opinion. This is not a new feature, but a return to the past.
